Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

For California residents and residents of states with similar privacy rights

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides California residents the right to opt out of the “sale” and “sharing” of their personal information. Other jurisdictions, including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and Montana, offer residents similar rights.

LUCA's Position

LUCA does not sell student data. We do not exchange student information for money. Student data collected through LUCA is used exclusively to provide and improve reading intervention services for the student, and never for advertising, marketing, or profiling for non-educational purposes.

For accounts held by adults (parents, guardians, educators), LUCA may use limited information to operate analytics, marketing attribution, and communications systems that help us understand how families and schools find and use LUCA. Some of this activity, such as setting third-party cookies for advertising attribution, may be considered “sharing” under the CCPA's broadened 2024 definition, even though no money changes hands.

How to Opt Out

You have three ways to opt out of any sharing for advertising purposes:

1. Update your cookie preferences

Open the cookie settings panel and disable Marketing cookies. Your choice is stored on this device for 12 months.

2. Use Global Privacy Control (GPC)

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal (built into Brave, DuckDuckGo, Firefox, and others), LUCA automatically honors it as an opt-out request. You do not need to take any further action.

3. Email us

Send a request to privacy@luca.ai with the subject line “Do Not Sell” and we will process your request within the timeline required by your state's privacy law (typically 15 to 45 days).

Authorized Agents

You may designate an authorized agent to submit an opt-out request on your behalf. We will require reasonable verification of the agent's authority before honoring the request. To submit a request through an agent, email privacy@luca.ai.

No Discrimination

LUCA will not deny you services, charge you a different price, or provide a lower quality of service because you exercised your rights under the CCPA or similar state laws.
