The science

Why phoneme-level matters

Most reading programs listen at the word level. A child who reads "ship" as "sip" and another who reads it as "fish" both get marked wrong, with no diagnostic information about which sound was missing.

LUCA listens at the phoneme level. The /sh/, /i/, and /p/ in "ship" are each scored separately. LUCA can see exactly which sound your child needs targeted practice on.

That sub-word resolution is what makes individualized reading intervention possible at scale.
