Community Seats

Every reader deserves a specialist. Some families cannot pay for one yet.

A Community Seat gives one child 12 months of LUCA. You pay $22 per month or $220 for the year. LUCA covers the rest. You get a certificate and a quarterly update. The family gets a reading specialist.

Sponsor 1 to 10 seats. Quantity is set at checkout.

66% of U.S. students are not proficient in reading (NAEP 2024). There is one reading specialist for every 211 students. The math was never going to work. A Community Seat changes it for one child.

Who gets a seat

  • Families apply below. The application asks for a name, an email, the child’s grade and one sentence about their situation. No documents.
  • We review applications in the order received against the seats sponsors have funded, and tell every family either way within 7 days.
  • An approved family receives a code for 12 months at no charge and the same setup steps every family gets.
  • If there are more applications than funded seats, families join a waitlist and we tell them where they stand.
  • A seat covers 12 months. We tell the family 30 days before it ends. After that it needs a new sponsor or a paid plan.
  • If a seat code is not used within 30 days, we reissue it once. If it is still unused, the seat goes to the next family, so no funded seat sits empty.
  • LUCA funds one additional seat for every 10 new families who join by Jan 3, 2027. We report the count in the quarterly update.

The certificate

Within 24 hours you receive a certificate by email: “This Community Seat was sponsored by [your name]” or “in honor of [a name you choose]”. It is printable. It never carries a child’s name.

The update

Every quarter we send sponsors one email: how many seats are funded and how many are in use. Never an individual child’s name, school or town. The first update goes out by the end of March 2027.

The pledge

The seat pledge: for every 10 new families who join LUCA by Jan 3, 2027, LUCA funds one Community Seat. Counted and reported quarterly.
